During Covid-19, I was working alone in my large factory studio, creating a series of oil paintings that expressed the strangeness and uncertainty of the time—no hugging, masks, distance, and death. This portrait was made via the iPhone, with the model posing live. That is me on the right side, holding my brush like a rifle. The large hand belongs to Alwynne, who is taking a selfie.
