I have maintained a strong drawing practice for many years, working from the model on a regular basis. This practice is central to my work and feeds directly into my painting. It is through drawing that I develop and expand my painting language, grounded in a continued engagement with the human form and its history in art. It is a very exciting and challenging practice, and I am not interested in an academic approach or in simply being “good” at drawing, but rather in using my eye, arm, and hand as a direct and intuitive extension of perception. Over the years, I have developed what I describe as “an abstract way of seeing.”
